Job Description Join Agilent’s growing API-Biopharma manufacturing team in a fast-paced GMP environment. This role will directly support a 200,000+ square foot brownfield capital expansion at our Frederick, Colorado location. The Instrument & Calibration Technician will lead the calibration of all devices being implemented in the project expansion. Performs, as needed, a variety of calibration, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties on complex laboratory, process, and utility instrumentation, working closely with the Facilities, Process Maintenance, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing groups in a near-paperless work environment, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) in a good manufacturing practices (GMP) facility. Instrument types include a variety of technologies supporting manufacturing of clinical and commercial pharmaceutical API: Conductivity, pH, Total Organic Carbon, Temperature, Pressure, Flow (incl. Coriolis), Humidity, Level (Guided Wave, Radar, etc), Weight, amongst others HART Communications, PACTWare, iFix SCADA, Ignition, Siemens, etc. Tracks and Documents completion of calibration activities in our Computerized Maintenance Management Software (Blue Mountain RAM) Oversees, coordinates, and directs activities of external calibration service provider. Assists in qualification activities related to instrumentation requiring calibration. Participates in emergency “on-call” rotation as required to support operations. Provides technical support as Metrology subject matter expert (SME) for engineering projects towards improvement of processing equipment, utilities, and facilities instrumentation. Participates in cross-functional teams to support business needs. Provides oversight of Metrology and Calibration activities to ensure uptime and reliability of process instruments to meet the manufacturing demands for new and existing processes. Oversees and assists with troubleshooting of manufacturing issues. Assists with implementation of continuous process improvements.
Qualifications
Technical understanding generally attained through studies resulting in a B.S., in science, engineering, biochemistry, related discipline, or equivalent experience. A minimum of four years of experience applying the knowledge, principles, and practices relevant to calibration and instrumentation. Demonstrated proficiency in common computer tools such as word processing, spreadsheet and web based applications for processing calibration activities. General understanding of operating principles of industrial instrumentation and control systems. General knowledge of P&IDs control theories and techniques and have ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot engineering drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics. Knowledge of basic relay ladder logic, programmable logic controllers, and distributed control systems a plus.
