The Deputy Inspector – Disciplinary Appeals is the person primarily responsible for the management and processing of incarcerated-persons misconduct appeals. The Deputy Inspector – Disciplinary Appeals must be confident, collaborative, and detail oriented. They must have knowledge of law, law enforcement, and correctional-institution operations. This position serves as the subject matter expert in the area of inmate disciplinary procedure appeals. Job duties include: Ensure compliance with timelines of the appeal responses and deadlines. Ensure established policies and procedures are followed at all correctional facilities. Consult with and advise agency staff at all levels regarding the appeal process and responses within the law and draft appeal responses. Serve as the Department’s liaison with U.S. District Courts, the Attorney General’s Office and other State agencies regarding inmate appeal matters. Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field, plus two years’ corrections experience; OR Associate's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field plus four years’ experience; OR six years corrections experience.

writing policy documents and reports.
Experience
with Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar computer programs. Completion of leadership development programs/training. Other: Must have a valid driver's license.
