The Student Assistant - Eugene Lang College Admission plays an important role in supporting the Undergraduate Admission team by serving as a knowledgeable and welcoming resource for prospective students and families. Working collaboratively with the admission staff, this position assists with responding to inquiries, maintaining digital records, supporting recruitment initiatives, and representing the student experience through one-on-one conversations and admission events. The Student Assistant helps create a personalized and informative experience for prospective students while contributing to the daily operations of the admission office. The successful candidate is an organized, dependable, and enthusiastic communicator who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong writing and interpersonal skills, exercises sound judgment when handling confidential information, and is eager to share their experience as a current Eugene Lang student. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Admission. Priority consideration will be given to current Eugene Lang College students. Students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply, provided they have a strong understanding of the Lang student experience and academic programs.
Responsibilities
Respond to prospective student and family inquiries through the Lang Admission email inbox and other communication channels. Meet individually with prospective students and families to share the Eugene Lang student experience and answer questions about campus life and academics. Represent Eugene Lang College at undergraduate admission events, including information sessions, open houses, admitted student programs, and virtual events. Draft and maintain email templates and other communication resources for frequently asked questions. Assist with administrative projects, data entry, and digital record maintenance using university systems. Support the creation of social media and other digital content that promotes Eugene Lang College and student life. Complete additional project-based assignments and departmental duties as needed. Qualifications
Current undergraduate student in good academic standing. Strong understanding of the Eugene Lang College student experience and academic programs. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Customer service, peer leadership, or student-facing experience. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling applicant information. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working in admissions, higher education, student leadership, orientation, or another customer service environment.
Experience
creating content for social media or digital communications. Familiarity with Slate or other CRM/database systems. Public speaking or presentation experience. Hourly Rate: $17.00 per hour Work Mode: Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice.
