[What the role is] The Radiation Protection and Nuclear Science Group in NEA is Singapore’s national authority for radiation protection, safeguarding the public, radiation workers and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation. Our Regulation Division administers and enforces the Radiation Protection Act and Regulations through licensing and inspections. [What you will be working on] As the Engineering Executive/ Senior Engineering Executive of the Ionising Radiation Control Department in the Regulation Division, you will administer radiation safety regulations and advance Singapore’s radiation protection framework through: Implementing the Radiation Protection Act and its Regulations, ensuring that all users of radiation comply with safety requirements across Singapore Processing applications for radiation licences and where necessary, seek clarification from applicants on their licence applications Evaluating health and environmental impacts of radiation exposure Providing guidance to applicants in their licence applications and enquiries on licensing-related matters Conducting inspections, where necessary, of medical and industrial premises that handle irradiating apparatus/radioactive materials and prepare inspection reports and assessments based on the information gathered from inspections Performing other duties as may be required of you under purview of the Regulation Division [What we are looking for] Job Requirements: At least a polytechnic diploma in a science or engineering related discipline Knowledge of Microsoft Office Highly self-motivated and resourceful Able to work independently with minimal supervision Strong interpersonal communication and writing skills Meticulous and resourceful Organised and able to multi-task Applicants will be updated on the status of their applications within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting. http://jobs.careers.gov.sg The Singapore Public Service plays a key role in the economic growth, progress and stability of Singapore by formulating and implementing government policies, as well as providing key public services.
