UR - Day (United States of America) Range: UR URCC 213 H Compensation Range: $33.84 - $45.68 The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of staff development, orientation and annual competency programs relative to sterile processing. Creates and coordinates the delivery of education, competencies and training programs to ensure sterile processing operations are standardized across the organization. Processes supplies, equipment and instrumentation, performing cleaning and sterilization duties, and preparing surgical packs, supplies and instrumentation for use in the operating rooms, clinics, and inpatient care areas. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Creates and delivers curriculum related to appropriate Sterile Processing technique and regulation. Stays abreast of developing trends, regulations and requirements. Works collaboratively with perioperative nursing, clinic QA liaisons and infection preventionists to educate in the approved practices for sterilization and high level disinfection of equipment and instrumentation. Designs, develops, implements and monitors educational programs as a subject matter expert in decontamination, instrument assembly, and sterilization the educator. Acts as a liaison to clinics and areas where sterilization and high level disinfection of equipment is performed. Collaborates and develops action plans for reduction of surgical site infection. Develops and facilitates training and orientation for new staff and continued education for current staff. Collects and interprets statistical data on the progress and success of the educational programs based on quality performance reports. Utilizes data to improve departmental employee certification quotas. Participates in infection prevention rounds. Creates and standardizes skills assessment in regards to the care of instrument and equipment processing. Orients and monitors staff through the orientation process. Documents progress and monitors corrective action with follow up outcome of improvement. Monitors instrument tracking reports and the events reporting system. Performs root cause analysis for areas identified as deficient and makes recommendations on resolution, as well as developing training materials to aid in reduction of future defects. Develops programs to monitor infection prevention practices, including but not limited to, ATP testing procedure of instruments and tracking immediate use sterilization. Prepares reports and represents sterile processing practices at the monthly infection prevention committee meeting. Other duties as assigned.
