$38.20 - $57.30 Registered Nurse (RN) Operating Room - Weekends -for experienced Operating Room Nurses Only Where you will work St Luke's MAIN OR Milwaukee, WI We have 22 operating rooms Main operating room services - Neuro/ENT, General, and orthopedics What you will do Are you looking for an environment that will challenge your knowledge and skills surrounding surgical nursing in the Operating Room? You are the eyes, the ears, and the voice of the patient during one of the most vulnerable times of a person’s healthcare journey. The OR is highly interdependent, and team based. You will work closely with surgeons, residents, advanced practice clinicians, anesthesiologists, technologists and assistants to provide superior surgical outcomes. Your orientation and practice environment is rooted in the specialty standards and educational programs of the Association of Perioperative Nurses (AORN). Your extensive RN orientation includes full training in the circulator role. What you will do As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum. Circulator role includes - time outs, positioning of patient, maintains sterile and safe environment, prepares the OR with necessary supplies, checks for inventory, and documents all aspects of the procedure What we are looking for: Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA). 1-2 years OR experience needed About This Location: Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center is a 938-bed, quaternary acute care community hospital that provides advanced health care expertise. Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions. Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines. Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed. May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary. Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions. Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
