Lead Components Engineer The Lead Components Engineer serves as a company technical authority responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and qualifying complex electronic components, driving cost, quality, and reliability improvements, and guiding cross-functional teams in component selection, vendor capability assessment, and obsolescence mitigation. The role provides expert technical support to design engineering, leads component strategy development, and may mentor or direct other component engineers. Evaluates alternative technologies and suppliers to reduce cost, improve quality and reliability, and mitigate obsolescence risks (20%). Serves as the primary technical interface between suppliers and internal engineering teams to resolve component issues and identify new or alternate sources (20%). Develops, implements, and maintains guidelines, procedures, and standards for vendor selection, component qualification, and supplier change notification review (20%). Oversees maintenance of component data management systems, including qualification records, documentation, and approval workflows (15%). What You Bring: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline. 8–12+ years of experience in component engineering, electronics design support, or related hardware engineering functions. Expertise in component sourcing, qualification, reliability evaluation, obsolescence management, and supplier technical assessments. Strong understanding of electronic component technologies, manufacturing processes, and industry standards. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical activities and guide less experienced engineers. Effective communication and vendor-management skills with experience interfacing directly with suppliers and engineering teams.
