Parsons’ student assistants work collaboratively in the Parsons admission department responding to, cataloging as necessary, and fielding general inquiries, maintaining digital records, preparing recruitment materials for and participating in various virtual and in-person events as needed, and performing various administrative tasks including responding to email, and representing Parsons School of Design and its admission office from the current student-perspective. The incumbent will assist with inquiries directed to Parsons from internal and external stakeholders, including prospective students and families, applicants, and admitted and deposited students. Parsons’ student assistants report directly to the assistant and associate directors of Parsons’ admission offices. We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual who can work independently but is also a team player. The ideal candidates for this position are undergraduate and graduate students interested in leveraging their positive experiences at Parsons, and working on a small team, to field inquiries from prospective students, families, and other constituents.
Experience
in an office setting or customer service is a plus. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at Parsons School of Design at The New School. Students from all of Parsons’ undergraduate and graduate academic disciplines are encouraged to apply. Strong writing and speaking skills are essential. Applicants will be asked to complete a brief writing assignment during the application process. They will be assigned to undergraduate admission if enrolled in an undergraduate program and graduate admission if enrolled in a graduate program. Priority will be given to applicants who hold federal work-study awards.
Responsibilities
include: Monitoring Parsons admission and recruitment inbox inquiries and fielding replies Draft email response templates for commonly asked questions Provide administrative support to Parsons’ admission team Assist with admission and recruitment events as needed, including speaking about your experiences as a Parsons student, and representing both Parsons and its admissions offices Additional project-based tasks as needed including virtual and in-person meetings with prospective students and their families Desired
Qualifications
Customer service experience or administrative office experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong understanding of the Parsons student experience and programming

working independently and expediently with limited hands-on supervision Proficiency with Google Drive Ability to demonstrate discretion in handling confidential applicant information Ability to perform multiple tasks with effective time management and prioritization Availability to work 15-20 hours weekly Hourly Rate: $17 Work Mode: Hybrid/Remote - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice.
