The Opportunity We're looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our team and help evolve our in-house developed platform, HALO, a critical service used by multiple applications and teams across ING. You'll play a key role in designing, developing, testing, enhancing, and supporting modern enterprise applications while ensuring security, stability, performance, and operational excellence. Working within an agile environment, you'll collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders, and platform teams to deliver innovative solutions that drive business value. What You'll Do Design, build, and enhance enterprise-grade Java applications. Develop and maintain Spring Boot microservices running on Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms. Contribute to platform modernization and migration initiatives. Build resilient integrations using REST APIs, Kafka, MQ, and messaging technologies. Drive test automation and continuous improvement practices. Support production environments and incident management processes. Enhance platform security, stability, monitoring, and observability. Contribute to CI/CD implementation and DevOps best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. What We're Looking For Required
Experience
7+ years of experience in software engineering or application development. Strong background in Java application development.
Experience
working in complex enterprise environments. Understanding of SDLC, coding standards, and IT risk controls.
Experience
supporting production systems and incident management activities.
