Reporting to the Assistant Director and Lieutenant of Campus Safety, the Law Enforcement Officer will perform protective service work enforcing laws and regulations (both traffic and criminal), investigate criminal activity, prepare reports, and maintain records and files in order to protect life and property, prevent crime, and promote safety. The Law Enforcement Officer will operate a patrol vehicle, be a visible presence throughout the AU campus community, and provide leadership to other officers on shift, in the absence of the Director or Assistant Director. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, interviewing victims and witnesses to obtain information regarding criminal activity, collecting evidence, testifying in court, participating in illegal drug enforcement operations, enforcing traffic laws, issuing tickets and citations, making arrests, and providing police escorts and first responder medical assistance, as needed. A successful candidate will possess a high school diploma and a South Carolina Criminal Justice Training Academy certification. A current South Carolina Driver’s License and zero criminal history is essential. A Class 1 Law Enforcement Certification is required in addition to the completion of NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 within six months of employment.
