In this role, you’ll work hands-on with one of the largest and most modern municipal fleets in the region—more than 7,000 assets—keeping our community running safely and efficiently. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on light and medium‑duty vehicles at our Atando Ave. maintenance facility. This includes working with advanced electronic systems, hybrid and electric powertrains, and public safety vehicle equipment. Responsibilities

Performs advanced diagnosis & repair of complex electronically controlled gasoline, automotive diesel, hybrid, electric powertrains, and modern electrical systems that may necessitate the use of computer based diagnostic platforms. Performs preventative maintenance inspection and repair to comply with Fleet Management and NCDOT standards. Utilizes fleet maintenance software to accurately document work performed. Interpret manuals, electrical diagrams, and diagnostic software. Understand and follow industry specific safety procedures and general safety practices. Maintains a safe/clean work environment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Experience

working on light and medium‑duty vehicles. Ability to work effectively without direct supervision. Knowledge of the methods, tools and materials used in maintaining & repairing automotive & related equipment. Awareness of occupational hazards and safe work practices. Ability to diagnose, evaluate, and clearly document work performed. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds. Possess or obtain the following licensures within six months (180) days of hire: NC Inspection license AC Recovery & Recycling License Willingness to work overtime, alternate shifts, holidays, and weekends as needed. Must possess a valid driver's license Ability to pass background and motor vehicle license check. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Basic hand tools and tool storage required upon hire.
