Job Description SUMMARY: This is a temporary position to be called in as needed on various shifts to assist with custodial coverage. This temporary position performs routine cleaning tasks to assigned buildings on campus. RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs cleaning tasks in assigned area in accordance with policies and procedures Collects and removes trash and recycled materials from buildings Fills out work orders for items needing maintenance Utilizes and takes care of the equipment and supplies provided to them by the University Works with safety of self and others in mind as their number one priority Assists with snow removal as required WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be available to work a flexible schedule to include weekends and evenings. Requires the employee to work both inside and outside in cold, wet, and dry conditions. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, walk up stairs, and push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a High School degree or educational equivalent. One year or more experience in custodial operations or related field preferred. Preferred for the employee to have a Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing. WORK HOURS: Temporary, part-time, non-exempt position Hours vary; May start at 5:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. This position works as needed, but will not work more than 1,000 hours per year All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and are subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis and are also subject to planned overtime work as required by the immediate supervisor.
