Work Flexibility: Hybrid What you will do: Sr. Principal Engineer responsible for end-to-end embedded platforms (Embedded Software (Mako 5 platform), Embedded OS Lifecycle Management and product security). Operates at the intersection of architecture, development, and security, driving platform lifecycle strategy, technical excellence, and security-by-design across products. Partner with other platform and software architects to develop platform tech block/modules. Platform Ownership: Define and partner with architects to architecture modules for M5 embedded software, OS Lifecycle Management (Flex OS), and security platforms across product lines. Technical Leadership: Provide deep expertise in embedded systems, Linux/OS internals, product security and systems architecture. Security Integration: Embed security-by-design (threat modeling, secure design, validation) into the full SDLC and post-market product security activities. Cross-Team Influence: Drive standards, frameworks, and architecture decisions across multiple teams and platforms Strategic Initiatives: Lead initiatives on platform hardening, shift-left security, quality improvement, and release acceleration What you need: Influence early-stage architecture decisions across products Improve first-pass quality and reduce vulnerabilities/rework Enable faster, predictable releases via proactive design Act as a technical authority across embedded, OS, and security domains Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams Required Qualifications: 15+ Years of work experience with an Engineering background Strong experience in Embedded software and system architecture, Linux / OS internals Product and platform security (secure design, hardening) Hands-on expertise in: Vulnerability assessment, penetration testing OSS security and compliance management Post-market product security activities management Proven ability to Lead platform-level / multi-product initiatives Influence cross-functional teams Drive end-to-end ownership (design → delivery) Travel Percentage: 50% Stryker is one of the world’s leading medical technology companies and, together with its customers, is driven to make healthcare better. These roles could have travel expectations, and you must work within the country of the job requisition location. Field-based – You can expect to regularly work a majority to 100% of time at customer facilities and has a set territory or expectation to travel within a set boundary. Almost all sales roles would likely be qualified as field-based. Onsite – Role is 100% located at a Stryker facility. Some ad hoc flexibility may be available depending on role, level, and job requirements. Manufacturing roles and any role that requires physical presence at the office would qualify under this category. Hybrid – You can expect to regularly work in both an alternate workplace and a Stryker facility. Roles that are partially remote or co-located would qualify as hybrid, and the expectation to be onsite would be defined and agreed upon by your manager/supervisor.
