JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Office Specialist- Corrections Position Summary Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the Office Specialist provides administrative, clerical, and records management support for the Corrections Bureau within the Utah County Sheriff's Office. This position is responsible for processing medical billing and inmate records, coordinating outside medical appointments, maintaining confidential documentation, and supporting the daily operations of the Security Center. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to exercise sound judgment while handling confidential information in a fast-paced environment. Starting pay: $19.25–$22.15 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Schedule – Monday- Friday 8:00 am -5 pm - on site Essential
Responsibilities
Process and reconcile medical invoices, billing statements, and inmate medical expenses while maintaining accurate financial records. Enter and maintain data in county software systems and ensure the accuracy of inmate medical and financial records. Coordinate medical appointments with outside healthcare providers and schedule inmate transportation as needed. Assist medical staff by documenting services provided, maintaining medical records, and preparing required reports. Create, update, and maintain special diet lists while communicating dietary needs to kitchen staff. Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documentation related to inmate medical services. Attend meetings, take and transcribe meeting minutes, and maintain organized records and files. Scan, archive, and maintain confidential records in accordance with department policies. Monitor and maintain office supply inventory and order supplies as needed. Provide general administrative and clerical support to ensure the efficient operation of the Corrections Bureau. Minimum
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years of general clerical or administrative support experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other computer software used for data entry, recordkeeping, and correspondence. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate effectively with staff, medical providers, and outside agencies. Attorney The County Attorney's Office protects Utah County by vigorously prosecuting and investigating crime, compassionately assisting crime victims, and by providing the highest quality legal representation to Utah County Government. Clerk/Auditor The County Auditor investigates all financial claims against the county and pays the bills. The Clerk Auditors Office examines the financial bonds kept by the other county officials to see that accurate and complete records are maintained. Conducts all elections in Utah county pertaining to county, state or national offices, and marriage licenses and passports are processed in the Clerk/Auditor Office. Recorder The County Recorder keeps the official records of the county, recording mortgages, deeds, and other documents involving property. The Recorder also maintains up-to-date maps which show current ownership of every section of land. Sheriff The County Sheriff is the law enforcement officer in the county and is responsible for the preservation of the peace. The Sheriff and deputies make arrests and prepare legal papers for Sheriff's sale. The Sheriff also oversees the County Jail. Surveyor The County Surveyor Office identifies and protects the section corner monuments that define record title (real property) interests. The Surveyor Office acts as a depository for all records of survey and is responsible for performing survey work for Utah County. Health The Utah County Health Department seeks to prevent avoidable disease and injury, and promote health by monitoring the health of the community, and assuring conditions in which people can be healthy. Information Systems The Information Systems department provides technology support to all Utah County government agencies. This support includes acquisition, deployment and management of computer-based workstations, software applications, local and wide-area network infrastructure, security, and information use policy. Children's Justice Center The Children's Justice Center is a homelike facility which serves children and families who are experiencing the crisis and chaos that comes with the disclosure of significant physical or sexual abuse of a child. Human Resources The County Human Resources Office provides full Human Resource services including payroll and benefits for approximately 1,200 Utah County employees. Justice Court The Utah County Justice Court is established by Utah County and has the authority to deal with class B and C misdemeanors, violations of ordinances, small claims, and infractions committed within County jurisdiction. Public Works The Utah County Public Works Department is a multi-service Department within County government operating in the areas of Administration, Buildings, Engineering, Mapping, Motor Pool, Parks, Roads, Special Projects, Surveying and Telecommunications.
