Job TitleBenefits Specialist I Agency Texas A&M University Department Human Resources Proposed Minimum Salary$4,175.00 monthly Job LocationCollege Station, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description A Glimpse of the Job The Benefit & Retirement Specialist I provides timely, professional, and confidential service that supports and advises the employees and retirees of TAMU, HSC, and Galveston on rules, policies, regulations, and standard administrative procedures relating to benefits and retirement programs. This position ensures the administration of the benefit and retirement programs to comply with System, State, and Federal policies and regulations. This position requires the ability to assist with general benefit and retirement questions and processing of tasks. Essential Duties/Tasks Benefit and Retirement Processing Runs, manages and makes updates on critical benefits reports to include; extra deductions/refunds, 12 over 9 adjustments, payroll retro reports, missing beneficiary, dependents not tied to benefits, double coverage, and various other critical benefit related reports. Processes all Workday benefits transactions to include; Onboarding, QLE’s, dependent documentation certifications, Medical Support Notices, death claims, retirements, survivor/dependents benefits and returning to retire. Guidance and Compliance Assists supervisors and employees with general benefit and retirement questions. Assists in resolving and troubleshooting routine issues. Effectively communicates benefit and retirement programs, practices, and policies to employees. Ensures compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Benefit and Retirement Support, Training, and Engagement Provide logistical support for specialized HR events and programs to include: Open Enrollment, Retirement Events, and Departmental

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. One year of human resources related experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work well independently and with minimal supervision. Ability to multitask. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
