Job Summary
Administers respiratory care modalities and evaluates results, under general supervision and in accordance with a physician's written order.
Essential Functions
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the required job specific technical/professional knowledge, skills and abilities. * 1. Initiates, monitors and weans patients on mechanical ventilation according to established departmental policies. 2. Uses specialized techniques to obtain and analyze arterial blood; maintains ABG machines and required documentation according to established departmental policies. 3. Responds to emergency calls, assists in administering CPR, and transports patients according to established departmental policies. 4. Sets up equipment and administers therapeutic modalities according to established departmental policies. 5. Completes equipment rounds according to established department policies. 6. Completes all information management responsibilities according to established departmental policies. 7. Prepares and maintains patient’s Medical Record and department records according to established departmental policies. 8. Participates in new staff orientation and provides training and inservice to hospital personnel. 9. Assists other employees in meeting their job objectives while fulfilling their own in a satisfactory fashion. 10. Maintains appropriate inventory of departmental supplies and informs department management when inventory levels are low. 11. Performs all assigned job activities, even those remotely related to their primary job. 12. Supports cooperative efforts between and among departments. 13. Conducts all department activities in a courteous, professional and timely manner with a collaborative spirit. 14. Supports departmental processes consistent with the hospital mission. 15. Maintains professional behavior and develops trust between coworkers. 16. Accomplishes previously determined, goals and objectives. 17. Adheres to all policies and procedures that apply. 18. Serves as Shift Supervisor as assigned. 19. Performs other duties as assigned. * Document on addendum age specific competency. CUSTOMER SERVICE: 1. Demonstrates the ability to create a positive interaction with the customer. 2. Demonstrates positive communication with people of different cultures, values and beliefs. 3. Demonstrates the ability to acknowledge customer concerns and takes corrective action. 4. Demonstrates compliance with identified customer service behaviors. 5. Provides escort to customers when necessary. PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: 1. Participates in Department/Hospital-wide activities which improve processes and/or outcomes. 2. Utilizes resources to maintain and improve self development and knowledge. 3. Complies with licensure and/or certification requirements. 4. Participates in annual competency assessment. BUDGET: 1. Demonstrates fiscally prudent use of equipment and supplies. 2. Utilizes charge process for supplies/equipment. PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS: 1. Completes projects/assignments within projected time frames and expectations.
Qualifications
