LSU - Alexandria Pay Grade: Professional Job Description: JOB DESCRIPTION – Staff Accountant DEPARTMENT: Accounting Services POSITION TITLE: Staff Accountant REPORTS TO: Director of Accounting Services RESPONSIBILITIES: Audit and review student and customer account receivables for past due balances. Contact students, customers, and external agencies regarding past due accounts. Communicate with various University departments to collect documentation for proof of debt. Prepare monthly collections file for submission to the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office. Oversee all communications with the Attorney General’s Office. Receive and process monthly payments from the Attorney General’s office. Invoice all external agencies and affiliates, including, but not limited to, military divisions, Louisiana Workforce, and various school boards. Prepare quarterly Accounts Receivable report for OSRAP. Assist Director of Accounting Services with monthly accounts receivable reconciliations. Assist Director of Accounting Services with weekly reconciliations of financial aid disbursements. Assist at front counter in daily cashiering processes. Assist in implementation and upkeep of internal controls. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Minimum of three years of experience within an Accounting, Finance or Business-related field. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge and direct experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer competency are required. Knowledge and direct experience with QuickBooks and Workday preferred. Demonstrated ability to work successfully with multiple constituencies, both internal and external to an organization. HOURS: Eight (8) hours per day, Monday –Friday 40 hours a week.
