About our Team Our team plays a key role in advancing the visibility, accessibility, and impact of research. By leveraging digital channels, social media, and web technologies, we help researchers discover, share, and engage with the latest scientific content. We support awareness, engagement, submissions, and community growth across our preprint server, ensuring research reaches the right audiences at the right time. Through audience insights, strategic communications, platform optimisation, and data-driven decision-making, we continuously strengthen our digital presence and support the global dissemination of research. About the Role SSRN is Elsevier’s preprint server. This role will help shape and communicate SSRN’s our brand, positioning, and community engagement strategy. You will work across marketing, communications, policy, and stakeholder engagement activities, helping researchers, authors, and readers understand the value of SSRN while strengthening its visibility, reputation, and impact across diverse research communities. SSRN is undergoing a strategic refocus on becoming a world class preprint server. We are developing new policies to improve trust and transparency and we wish to communicate these policies to our communities. Further, we have ambitions to grow for example in China and outreach will be an important part of that goal.

Responsibilities

Support the development and consistent application of SSRN's public positioning, communicating what makes SSRN distinct and relevant to its different audiences Work with the Director and leadership team to develop and support plans around rebranding, with the goal of increasing SSRN's visibility and relevance across its growing range of communities Play an active role in communicating the differences between preprints and journal articles clearly and consistently, helping authors and readers understand the value and purpose of each Collaborate with the Policy & Partnerships Manager to promote and amplify SSRN's partnership activity, policy developments, and strategic initiatives externally Act as SSRN's representative in conversations with Elsevier's central STMJ marketing team on shared initiatives including Elsevier.com copy, Researcher Academy content, customer lifecycle emails, and paid social Maintain active relationships across the full range of communities SSRN serves and keep them informed of platform developments, policy changes, and relevant updates Manage SSRN's daily social media presence across LinkedIn, X, Bluesky and other relevant channels via Sprinklr Run the editorial calendar for the SSRN blog, including commissioning, writing, and publishing content while monitoring performance and community sentiment

Requirements

Experience

developing and applying brand, positioning, or communications strategies across multiple audiences Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and consistently

Experience

managing social media channels and creating engaging content for professional or academic audiences Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholder groups and communities

Experience

planning and delivering marketing, communications, or engagement initiatives Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and editorial calendars Analytical mindset with the ability to use performance insights to inform content and communication strategies Collaborative approach and experience working across cross-functional teams, with a preference for experience in the publishing or preprint landscape.
