The Opportunity This position works out of our Plymouth, MN Site in the Structural Heart Division and works 3:30pm to 2:00am Mon - Thurs, with occasional Friday overtime. Main Purpose of Role The Production Supervisor is responsible for directing the manufacturing operations performed in a shift or group of production lines, ensuring they reach volume, quality and cost goals. You will lead a team of manufacturing associates in a cleanroom or controlled environment, ensuring the production of high-quality medical devices. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement while applying Lean Manufacturing principles to drive operational excellence. What You’ll Work On Controls production activities, material flow, and inventory to achieve cost and quality targets and production schedules of the assigned production line(s). Ensures compliance of standards. Responsible for the management and supervision of the assigned production line(s). Lead a team comprising individual professional (e.g., engineers/officers) to meet quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness requirements. Supervise day-to-day operations on the manufacturing floor, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity targets are met. Champion Abbott’s cultural values by promoting a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment. Lead and coach team members in Lean tools such as 5S, Standard Work, Visual Management, and Root Cause Analysis. Identify and eliminate waste through continuous improvement initiatives and kaizen events. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce variability. Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and internal quality standards. Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve issues and support new product introductions. Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and support employee development and training. Maintain accurate documentation and support audits and inspections. In addition to the duties of a grade 14 supervisor, a grade 15 supervisor has demonstrated leadership capabilities in the areas of lean systems and Tier meetings, to the point where they become a training resource for other areas within the building. Able to teach others how their teams performance ties to the financial outcomes monthly and ability to support the financial planning process. Ability to identify opportunities within the financial outcomes that are within their control and propose cost improvement projects. Required Qualifications Technical Diploma (± 12 years) Minimum 4 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (medical device or pharmaceutical preferred). 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Knowledge of: FDA regulations, ISO 13485, and GMP. Lean Manufacturing principles and tools. Cleanroom operations and contamination control. Skills: Strong leadership and team-building capabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, life sciences, or a related field. Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
