Summary Job Description: Baptist Health Medical Group is seeking a compassionate, flexible, and patient-focused Patient Care Technician Float to provide clinical support across multiple physician practices within a designated coverage area. Working under the direct supervision of healthcare providers, the Patient Care Technician plays a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring efficient clinic operations. This position is responsible for rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs and medical histories, performing medication reconciliation, supporting patient flow, maintaining exam room readiness, and utilizing the electronic health record (EHR) system to document patient information. Responsibilities
Patient Care & Clinical Support Welcome and prepare patients for examinations and procedures. Obtain and accurately document vital signs, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and pulse oximetry readings. Collect and update patient medical, social, and family history information. Perform medication reconciliation and verify preferred pharmacy information. Assist providers with patient care activities within the scope of training. Ensure exam rooms are cleaned, sanitized, stocked, and prepared between patient visits. Promote a safe environment while maintaining HIPAA and OSHA compliance. Patient Flow & Clinic Operations Coordinate patient movement throughout the clinic to support an efficient and positive patient experience. Facilitate timely rooming of patients and assist with clinic workflow. Support clinical staff and providers in maintaining smooth daily operations. Interact with patients of all ages, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Documentation & Electronic Medical Records Review patient charts prior to appointments to ensure required information is available. Accurately enter patient information, histories, and vital signs into the electronic health record system. Maintain detailed and accurate patient records in accordance with organizational standards. Utilize EPIC and other healthcare technology systems effectively. Front Office & Patient Access Support Provide support in patient access areas when needed. Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes. Answer phones, manage fax communications, and perform other front office duties. Collaborate with clinical and administrative team members to ensure continuity of care and an exceptional patient experience. Minimum
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required. No prior healthcare experience required; training will be provided. Valid driver's license required. Ability and willingness to travel daily between multiple physician practice locations within the assigned coverage area. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required within 90 days of hire. Successful completion of employer-provided training. Basic computer skills and ability to work within electronic health record systems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to provide excellent customer service while working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous Patient Care Technician experience.
Experience
in an outpatient clinic, physician practice, or healthcare setting. Familiarity with EPIC or other electronic medical record systems.
