About the Role We are seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join our WA Mining team at Huntly in a Relief Supervisor capacity, supporting the safe, efficient and effective operation of our Mine Development function. This role plays a critical part in providing leadership coverage across the team, supporting operational continuity and helping foster a strong safety culture within our mining operations. Working closely with skilled professionals across the Mine Development team, you will provide hands-on leadership, guide day-to-day performance and support the delivery of safe and reliable outcomes. This position will be offered on a flexible roster arrangement, working a 12-hour, 5-panel production roster (2 days, 2 nights, 5 days off) when providing leave coverage across operational crews. Outside of relief coverage periods, the role will work a Monday to Friday roster. In this role, you will: Provide strong leadership, coaching and mentoring to your team while fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing work environment. Support safe and efficient mine development activities, including planning, coordination and delivery of operational priorities. Drive continuous improvement through lean methodologies, practical problem-solving and a focus on optimising production processes. Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements, with safety remaining the highest priority. Monitor key performance indicators and use operational data to support sound decision-making. Effectively allocate resources, resolve operational issues and maintain strong communication with teams, supervisors and cross-functional stakeholders. What you can bring to the role Strong knowledge of mine operations, ideally within mine development activities such as topsoil and overburden stripping, secondary overburden removal, stockpile and ramp construction, and blast pattern preparation. Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and support teams in a safe and productive operational environment. Strong coordination skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and operational requirements. Practical problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically while remaining hands-on in day-to-day operations. Sound communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams. Schedule 26 - Statutory Supervisor accreditation required. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership position or have worked in a similar operation or industry to Alcoa. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world’s second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa’s Pinjarra alumina refinery.
