Job Title Internship Development acceleration of IOT devices by using Zephyr Job Description Start Date: As of September 2026 Duration: at least / 6 months Type: Internship (non-thesis) Weekly Presence: 40h (minimum 32h) Location: Eindhoven Internship Title Development acceleration of IOT devices by using Zephyr Your role: You will be part of the connectivity group and working together with people from other groups in the Electronic Systems & IoT department. The Electronic Systems & IoT department is part of Philips Engineering Solutions and located on the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (the Netherlands). Implement/port existing Cloud use-cases ( provisioning, data upload/download, FOTA ) using HTTP/TLS/TCP protocols on Zephyr capable HW. Once functional, the effort to move to code over to different HW will be benchmarked compared to our existing dedicated solutions. Assignment can be adapted towards graduate and internship project. You are responsible for: Defining a set of use-cases for this benchmark. Defining the initial Zephyr capable HW setup. Defining a set of Zephyr capable boards to be used for the porting benchmark. Implementation of the Cloud use-case ( data upload/down over TLS, provisioning ) Defining the metric to be used for the benchmark ( development time, re-use of code, test impact) Porting the code to the selected Zephyr capable boards Benchmark to determine maturity and opportunities to accelerate IOT implementations with Zephyr During the interview process you will be asked to demonstrate your own build Zephyr application. This can be a very basic application (minimally a Zephyr example with minimal changes ) running on HW of your choice. This could be a notebook or any other self-selected platform. You're the right fit if: You are studying towards your Master in Electrical Engineering, Software, Embedded Systems Engineering or related studies; Familiar with programming on embedded devices; Motivated to learn developing applications with Zephyr; Familiar with IP based protocols (HTTP/TCP/TLS); Affinity working with Cloud technology; Affinity working with courses on the subject of connectivity/IoT; Able to work in a multidisciplinary environment Fluent in English; Affinity for both theoretical and practical work. How we work together We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations. This is an onsite role. This includes: Monthly full-time allowance between €500 - €700 gross, depending on your education level and if you need to relocate to The Netherlands. Part-time internships receive the allowance pro-rata. Housing compensation. Should you need to relocate to near our office, we’ll offer you a monthly allowance of €300,- net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam, €255,- net for all other Philips locations. To be eligible, we’ll just ask for the rental contract from your landlord, and your usual home-work travel distance needs to be more than 50 km or 1.5 hours of travel time (for a one way trip). Travel compensation, if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. €192,- net as a monthly allowance. Paid holidays per internship term.
