The Executive Director, Head of GPS Business Operations serves as the strategic and operational leader responsible for enabling the execution of GPS priorities, driving organizational effectiveness, and ensuring alignment across people, process, technology, and business operations. Acting as the operational partner to the Chief Safety Officer and GPS Leadership Team, this role leads cross-functional initiatives, strategic planning, portfolio governance, resource management, and organizational transformation efforts that support GPS's global objectives. The position functions as an enterprise-level integrator, ensuring successful execution of critical business priorities while fostering operational excellence, innovation, and organizational scalability.
Essential Functions
of the Job: Serve as the strategic business partner to the Chief Safety Officer (CSO) and GPS Leadership Team, translating organizational priorities into actionable business plans and ensuring successful execution of strategic initiatives. Lead annual strategic planning, organizational goal setting, business reviews, and operating cadence processes to support GPS objectives and enterprise priorities. Oversee GPS governance, including leadership meetings, portfolio reviews, decision tracking, risk management, and cross-functional coordination to drive organizational alignment and transparency. Partner with HR and Finance on strategic workforce planning, organizational design, capability planning and resource allocation. Partner with Finance, HR, IT, Legal, Compliance, and other corporate functions to ensure effective operational support and execution across GPS. Drive business process optimization, operational excellence programs, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, scalability, and decision quality. Develop the GPS digital operations roadmap, leveraging AI, analytics, automation, and emerging technologies to improve organizational effectiveness. Develop and maintain executive dashboards, metrics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision making. Manage enterprise-level projects, change management efforts, and organizational transformation initiatives that support GPS growth and evolving business needs. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across the GPS organization. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, identifying opportunities, risks, and organizational priorities while ensuring alignment with corporate strategy. Lead, coach, and develop a team of business operations professionals, project managers, and/or administrative staff supporting GPS operations and strategic initiatives. Establish clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and support career development and succession planning. Allocate resources and prioritize workload to ensure timely delivery of operational and strategic objectives. Promote a high-performance, collaborative, and inclusive work environment. Build organizational capability through talent development, succession planning, and leadership pipeline development within the Business Operations team.
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health, or related field required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD, or equivalent) preferred 14+ years of experience with a minimum 10+ years of pharmacovigilance experience with progressive leadership experience in business operations, strategy, program management, pharmaceutical development, and drug safety. Travel: Domestic and international travel up to 20%-30% may be required to support global leadership meetings, business operations reviews, strategic planning sessions, and key organizational initiatives.
