Job Summary

The Center for Women's Mental Health is seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Research Assistant (Medical Record Review) to support the National Pregnancy Registry for Psychiatric Medications (NPRPM), a prospective observational research study that evaluates pregnancy and infant outcomes following prenatal exposure to psychiatric medications. The Registry collects information through participant interviews and medical record review to better understand the safety of medication use during pregnancy. The Clinical Research Assistant will review maternal and infant medical records and extract clinical information for pregnancy safety research. The successful candidate will receive training in reviewing obstetric, neonatal, pediatric, and specialty medical records and will learn to identify and document standardized clinical information used in research studies. This position is ideal for medical assistants, pre-PA or PA students, pre-med students, nursing students, or other individuals with clinical experience who are interested in gaining experience in clinical research and medical record review. The position offers flexible part-time hours and the opportunity to contribute to research that informs clinical care during pregnancy.

Qualifications

Review maternal, obstetric, delivery, neonatal, pediatric, and specialty medical records. Identify and document relevant clinical information using standardized research procedures. Extract and document information related to maternal medical history, pregnancy complications, labor and delivery, newborn outcomes, and infant health and development. Enter abstracted information into secure research databases. Review records for completeness and identify missing or conflicting information. Participate in training and quality assurance activities to ensure consistent data collection. Maintain participant confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and institutional research policies. Collaborate with investigators and research staff to resolve questions regarding medical documentation.

Qualifications

Completion of a Medical Assistant program, current enrollment in a health professions training program (e.g., Physician Assistant, nursing, medicine, public health), or equivalent combination of education and clinical experience. Familiarity with medical terminology. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and computer skills.

Knowledge and Skills Ability to interpret clinical documentation from multiple healthcare settings. Ability to recognize relevant clinical information within complex medical records. Pay Range
