Grade 4 (Hourly) Position Description: The Communications and Marketing Specialist I will oversee all internal and external communications for the Department of Surgery, including department newsletters, web content, social media channels, media relations, promotion of faculty and programs, resident recruitment campaigns, alumni relations, etc. This position serves as the marketing and communications liaison to the University of Louisville, the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and UofL Health to promote the Department of Surgery. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage all Department of Surgery website content and updates. Create and promote social media content. Draft department newsletters. Facilitate media relations opportunities and requests. Draft external communications. Serve as liaison between department, ULH and SOM on marketing/communications requests and opportunities. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, computer science, or related fields. Three (3) or more years of experience. Knowledge and experience marketing/communications space. COMPETENCIES Strong command of written word and understanding of proper grammar and usage. Understanding of how to create and use social media to enhance brand and connect with audiences. Creative and enthusiastic. Able to adeptly handle multiple projects simultaneously. Target Compensation Maximum: $32.98 Target Compensation Minimum: $21.99 Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
