Overview: Are you a curious, analytical professional who enjoys solving complex problems and uncovering answers through research? Join our team as an Investor Claims Specialist, where you'll play a critical role in the final stage of the mortgage default servicing process. In this position, you'll review and reconcile defaulted mortgage loans after foreclosure, short sale, deed-in-lieu, bankruptcy, or other loss mitigation activities have been completed. Your primary focus will be ensuring claims are accurately prepared, expenses are properly reconciled, and reimbursement opportunities are maximized in accordance with investor, insurer, and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys investigative work, thrives in a detail-oriented environment, and wants to develop a deep understanding of the mortgage servicing lifecycle. What You'll Do: Review and analyze defaulted mortgage loans following foreclosure, short sale, deed-in-lieu, charge-off, and other loss mitigation outcomes. Research loan histories, advances, deposits, attorney fees, and servicing expenses to ensure accuracy and completeness. Prepare, review, and submit investor and insurer claims within established service level agreements. Interpret investor, insurer, and regulatory guidelines to determine reimbursement eligibility and claim recoverability. Validate invoices, expenses, and supporting documentation required for claim submission. Reconcile loan balances and losses to support final accounting and loss allocation activities. Partner with teams across Foreclosure, Loss Mitigation, Bankruptcy, Collections, Property Preservation, Mortgage Insurance, Hazard Insurance, and Accounting to resolve discrepancies and complete claim processing. Respond to attorney and business partner inquiries regarding loan-level activity. Conduct quality reviews of completed claims to ensure accuracy prior to submission. Maintain accurate system records and documentation throughout the claims process. Identify opportunities to recover expenses and minimize losses while ensuring compliance with investor and regulatory requirements. A Day in the Life: As part of the final team to touch a defaulted mortgage loan, you'll review everything that has occurred throughout the life of the default process. Each file requires careful research and analysis as you evaluate expenses, advances, reimbursements, and recoverable losses. A typical claim can take several hours to complete and may span multiple days as you investigate loan activity, review documentation, interpret investor guidelines, and collaborate with business partners. Success in this role comes from asking questions, digging into details, and finding solutions. We're Looking For Someone Who: Is naturally curious and enjoys researching complex issues. Takes initiative to find answers and understand the "why" behind processes. Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Has exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities. Communicates professionally through both written and verbal communication. Can manage multiple priorities and complex files simultaneously. Enjoys working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
