Contribute to one or more specific therapeutic or specialist area commissioning portfolios. Assist in the management of one or more Adis journal titles.

Responsibilities

Editorial control of externally authored articles (reviews and original research articles) – Editorial Skills. Identify potential peer reviewers for invited and submitted reviews and studies – Editorial Skills, Communicates Effectively, Decision quality. Make publication (accept/reject) decisions for externally-authored articles based on peer reviewer comments and own technical assessment – Manuscript Assessment, Decision Quality, Critical Scientific Evaluation, Research Methodologies. Ensure content of manuscript is technically accurate, and that the structure of the manuscript optimises data presentation and the manuscript is written in clear succinct English - Manuscript Assessment, Decision Quality, Critical Scientific Evaluation, Scientific & Academic Writing. Assessment of author amendments for incorporation - Manuscript Assessment, Decision Quality, Critical Scientific Evaluation, Final technical check of article page proofs – Decision Quality. Contribute to content generation for a specific therapeutic or specialist area (or areas). Identify ideas and potential authors for invited review articles; includes verifying data availability, readership interest and journal interest - Creativity. Assess new submissions for appropriateness of title and focus, readership interest and journal interest - Manuscript Assessment, Decision Quality, Critical Scientific Evaluation. Work to targets/monthly copy requirements to ensure appropriate contribution towards copy levels for products Drives Results, Accountability. Assist in the commissioning of Adis Drug Evaluations and Profiles – Editorial Skills, Critical Scientific Evaluation

Education

Life science degree, preferably related to pharmacy/pharmacology. A PhD or a post graduate degree level qualification with an appropriate level of clinical (pharmacy, medical, nursing) or medical writing experience.

Experience

Sound knowledge of technical/scientific issues across a range of therapeutic areas and disciplines – Scientific Comprehension. Previous STM publishing experience would be beneficial. Understanding of the Journal publication process would be beneficial – Publishing Workflow and Systems. Awareness of the Pharmaceutical industry, and the interests of the Springer Healthcare Business in this industry, would be beneficial – Pharmaceutical Industry Knowledge. Specialist knowledge of technical/scientific issues in at least one therapeutic area or discipline would be beneficial - Scientific Comprehension. Skills/Knowledge Self-motivated/organised/conscientious/flexible/deadline orientated – Self Awareness, Drives Results. Able to identify and maximise commercial opportunities while meeting editorial requirements – Financial Acumen. Able to critically analyse, synthesise and evaluate information within and across trials with consideration of the therapeutic area – Manuscript Assessment, Critical Scientific Evaluation, Research Methodologies. Able to present complex information clearly and creatively – Writing Skills. Able to develop effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders (including other Adis journal Editors, Editorial Assistants, Springer Nature production staff, external thought leaders etc.) Balances Stakeholder. Excellent written and oral communication skills – Writing Skills, Communicates Effectively. Technically accurate. Customer service ethic with awareness of specific customer needs (pharmaceutical industry knowledge) – Customer Focus. Computer literacy/electronic database familiarity – Tech Savvy.
