Job Summary
The Senior Clinical Research Coordinator (Sr. CRC) works independently under minimal supervision to support the team in enrolling eligible patients on oncology clinical trials. The Sr. CRC will support both Mass General Brigham Academic Medical Centers of Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) AND Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). This role is required to be on-site at either location depending upon need. The Sr. CRC will work as a CRC at BWH and will assist the Clinical Research Manager with the implementation of clinical trials across different disease specialties at the BWH site. The Sr. CRC will be responsible for scheduling all protocol mandated tests required to comply with institutional and federal regulations governing clinical research. In addition, the Sr. CRC may assist management in the areas of Quality Control and Training & Development and may provide input into the assessment of departmental procedures. This position involves direct patient contact.
Responsibilities
may consist of assisting Management with the following: · Identify changes associated with Standard Operating Procedures and develop processes to ensure compliance · Training of new staff · Manage studies of a particular specialized program · Disease specific administrative tasks The position represents a trained individual able to perform the following job duties independently under minimal supervision by the Clinical Research Manager: · Assist clinical team in screening potential patients for study participation · Schedule all protocol required tests and procedures · Coordinate patient appointments with physicians, nurses, and all test areas · Coordinate and schedule clinical safety laboratory specimen draws and ensure timely results are available to providers · Prepare pre-visit communication for providers to ensure required assessments are completed and documented · Maintain point of contact communication with enrolled patients and assist with front line questions regarding study participation · Develop protocol specific flow charts, intake sheets, and other tools to ensure protocol compliance and proper data acquisition · Coordinate, obtain, process, and ship protocol required tissue samples · Ensure collection and processing (e.g. spin/separate/freeze) of all required correlative research blood samples with the coordination of the processing labs for MGH and BWH · Obtain vital signs and perform EKGs as required for individual studies · Administer quality of life assessments as required for individual studies · Scans in research documents and certifies these documents as copies Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required: · High level time management and organization skills · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Knowledge of current and developing clinical research trends · Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor others · Ability to work independently and display initiative · Ability to identify problems and develop solutions
