Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent. Valid Driver’s license and two years of driving experience. Effective oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to accurately sort by alpha-numeric schemes. Ability to operate electronic and mechanical devices. Ability to read and perform basic mathematical and recordkeeping tabulation tasks. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, and to follow written and oral instructions. Basic computer skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Experience
working in a postal environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of automated envelope, package handling or sorting systems. Data entry skills Familiarity with U.S. Postal Service regulations. Substantive experience working in a postal environment. Conditions of Employment This position is non-exempt, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the fair labor standards act. This position is subject to overtime and schedule changes and may be required to work shifts during weekends, holidays, and special events. During the summer months work hours may be modified to reflect reduced mail volume. At the start of the fall and spring semesters work hours may be modified or extended to reflect increased mail volume This position has been designated as essential and will require reporting to work when the University is officially closed. All hourly employees are subject to the limitations of the Virginia Manpower Control Program and total hours worked may not exceed, on average, 29 hours per week, over the course of twelve-month period beginning May 1 each year.
