About the Role

We're a small, fast-moving team building AI-powered software that modernizes billing and operations for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) agencies. Our platform automates the denial resolution and revenue recovery process — helping paramedics get paid and protecting the financial health of 911 services across the country.

We're looking for a Founding Engineer who thrives at the intersection of hands-on engineering and direct customer impact. You'll be one of the earliest technical hires, shaping the product, the codebase, and the culture from the ground up.

What You'll Do

• Own end-to-end development: architecture, code, deployment, and on-call responsibility.
• Build and ship customer-facing features informed by direct conversations with billers, fire chiefs, and EMS operations leaders.
• Develop automation that reduces manual work and delivers meaningful financial savings to agencies.
• Make product and design tradeoffs with a strong UX sensibility — you care as much about the experience as the implementation.
• Iterate quickly: deploy, gather customer feedback, and improve continuously.
• Collaborate closely with the founding team in person 2–3 days per week in San Francisco.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 1–3 years of full-stack product development experience, delivering end-to-end features independently.
• Proficiency in React with strong product and UX sensibilities — you know what "good" looks like on the frontend.
• Experience translating customer needs into well-scoped, well-executed technical deliverables.
• Hands-on experience building and shipping features that interact with APIs.
• Familiarity with LLMs and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures — this is a dealbreaker requirement.
• Strong CS fundamentals, high attention to detail, and a fast learner with clear communication skills.

Nice to Have:

• Backend and infrastructure experience with Go, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud.
• Background in EMS, 911 dispatch, healthcare, or insurance billing.
• NREMT certification — a meaningful differentiator.
• Prior experience as a founder or founding engineer at an early-stage startup.

Location

• Hybrid — San Francisco, CA, with an in-person expectation of 2–3 days per week.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $120,000 – $190,000 USD annually, depending on experience.
• Early-stage equity participation.
