Duties
are to provide clinical support for the diagnosis of foreign and domestic animal diseases by molecular-based methods. This position is to support state efforts for increased foreign animal disease surveillance, particularly high pathogenicity avian influenza and classical swine fever. Applicants must have strong organizational skills with attention to detail as mandatory. Individuals must be able to follow directions well, be effective team workers, and have experience in quality control for laboratory testing. Position will work in a BSL3 laboratory and must observe all procedural guidelines for laboratory operation. Must be available on an emergency basis in a disease crisis. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Recruitment Range: $62,044 - $80,000 Knowledge of molecular procedures. Knowledge of laboratory equipment. Ability to communicate effectively. Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology, chemistry or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a medical laboratory in the assigned area; or Associate’s degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of medical laboratory experience; or Completion of a certified laboratory assistant course in medical technology or a comparable course from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of medical laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
