Originally approved for an RN 20196 position Job Description: Baptist Health Medical Group LPN – Orthopedic Surgery St. Matthews Area Full Time / First Shift The LPN or RN assists physicians and clinical staff by collecting pertinent patient information needed to determine physical and psychological needs, identify and address health concerns, and provide appropriate patient care. The LPN or RN performs treatments, diagnostic procedures, and routine clinical duties within their scope of practice and demonstrated competencies. Direct patient care is provided to patients of all ages. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Perform EKGs, venipunctures, pulmonary function testing, and other laboratory procedures and treatments accurately. Obtain and accurately document vital signs and patient information in an appropriate and timely manner. Apply splints, braces, and wound dressings correctly. Administer medications according to physician orders and applicable scope of practice. Assist physicians with examinations and procedures. Prepare, clean, and maintain rooms, equipment, and instruments; practice appropriate infection control procedures. Order and restock clinical supplies as needed. Report equipment and facility maintenance needs to the appropriate manager. Respect and promote patient rights, maintain patient confidentiality, and demonstrate friendly and helpful behavior. Respond appropriately to patient emergencies and follow established policies and procedures. Follow OSHA, departmental, and organizational policies and procedures. Perform quality control activities and maintain required documentation and records. Report departmental, staffing, and operational concerns to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner. Perform clerical duties as needed, which may include scheduling appointments, answering phones, filing, copying, completing forms and referrals, obtaining precertification's, collecting demographic information, updating patient charts, and ensuring fee tickets accurately reflect services performed. Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an approved practical nursing program for LPN candidates. Current state licensure as a Practical Nurse for LPN candidates. Current RN licensure for RN candidates. Clinical or physician office experience preferred. Orthopedic or surgical clinic experience preferred. Computer skills preferred. Basic Life Support certification required, with other advanced training as appropriate.
