Summary Job Description: Job Title: Sleep Center Assistant FULL TIME DAYS Job Description: The Sleep Center Assistant is responsible for the front & back office, clerical, registrations, authorizations, and patient scheduling duties of the Sleep Center. This position will also be responsible for many aspects of the Home Sleep Testing (HST) program including equipment setup, disinfection, patient education, delivering equipment to the patient and download of data. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: verifying patients’ demographics and insurance information; registering patients; determining patient’s out of pocket expense; generating estimates for all sleep testing, scheduling appointments; answering phone calls and completing requests or directing patient’s questions to appropriate individuals if requests cannot be met. Employee ensures that all required precertification and authorizations for patient testing are obtained as well as any required referrals for patient appointments and testing. The Sleep Center Assistant is expected to project a friendly and professional attitude to patients, physicians and employees. Answers and return telephone calls timely, with proper phone etiquette and with a pleasant, toned voice. Communicates courteously with all customers. Manages difficult or emotional customer situations. Complete all incoming referrals from referring providers. Schedules follow up appointments and sleep studies as requested by the physician. Mails patient packets. Accurately searches registration system to verify if patient already has a record created. This includes searching by name, date of birth, social security number. Avoiding duplication of patient records is critical to the integrity of the registration system and ultimately clinical care and billing. Accurately completes registrations. Schedules patients according to Appointment Scheduling policy and accurately enters information such as referral source and chief complaint. Verifies patients’ appointments by calling to remind patient of appointment date, time, location and financial responsibility. Interviews patients and/or their designated representatives to collect, review, and document demographic information and insurance and/or other financial information necessary to update information or to create a new patient number. Demonstrates working knowledge of and appropriately utilizes computer software required in performance of duties to include: Onbase, Right Fax, Phones system, Epic, Microsoft Outlook, Sleep Acquisition Systems (Sleepware, G3, zzzPAT, CloudPAT) Requirements: High School or Equivalent Required. 2+ years of experience in a medical setting with medical terminology knowledge preferred.
