1144 Facility Srvcs Central Shop Pay Grade: Classified Technician and Skilled Trades Job Description: The Electrician Master is an advanced skilled trades position within Louisiana State University Facility Services responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of commercial electrical systems serving more than 150 campus buildings totaling over 8.5 million square feet. This position supports the safe and reliable operation of academic, research, healthcare, residential, athletic, and administrative facilities by maintaining power distribution systems, lighting, motors, generators, emergency power systems, and associated controls. The Electrician Master exercises independent judgment in diagnosing complex electrical issues, prioritizing emergency repairs, coordinating planned outages, ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA regulations, and university standards, and providing technical guidance to other electricians and apprentices. Duties

Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade commercial electrical systems, equipment, and distribution infrastructure serving more than 150 campus buildings, including academic, research, healthcare, residential, and athletic facilities. - 25% Diagnose and repair electrical systems ranging from 24V control circuits to 480V three-phase power systems, including switchgear, panelboards, motor control centers, transformers, generators, transfer switches, motors, lighting systems, and variable frequency drives (VFDs).- 15% Read and interpret electrical blueprints, one-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical specifications to perform installations, renovations, and complex electrical repairs in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and university standards. -15% Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment while documenting work, maintaining asset records, and completing work orders within the University's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).- 10% Coordinate planned electrical outages, support construction and renovation projects, and collaborate with engineers, contractors, and Facility Services personnel to ensure safe and reliable campus operations.- 10% Provide technical leadership, guidance, and on-the-job training to electricians, and trainees while assisting with material estimates, inventory management, and the development of maintenance standards and procedures. -10% Respond to emergency electrical failures, severe weather events, and after-hours service calls; perform all work in compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, LSU safety policies, and established lockout/tagout procedures.- 10% Prepares material and purchase requisitions.
