Job Description Summary This position is available within the University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology (DIT). The University of Maryland Division of Information Technology (DIT) is seeking an IT Desktop Support Coordinator to join our Platform Services team. As a member of the Enterprise Desktop team, this position will assist with technical support of desktop computers, applications, audiovisual equipment and related technology. Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Activities require knowledge of application software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, recurring, and non-recurring problems. The position also provides one-on-one consulting with end users and the University community and will lead and coordinate desktop support projects. This position requires independent and team-based analyses, problem-solving, and communication. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgment. This position requires the possession of a valid driver’s license. **This position is considered essential and may be required to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergency to help maintain the continuity of University services.** **May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, or different shifts for extended periods.** Physical Demands: Predominantly operates in an office environment. Some periods may be spent in computer rooms for installation, testing, and troubleshooting. Some work (less than 5%) requires moving and lifting of server equipment. Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience
One (1) year of professional information technology experience. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Knowledge of IT systems. Knowledge of procurement of software tools and services. Skill in oral and written communication. Skilled in the use of office productivity software such as Office 365 or Google Workspaces. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws. Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service. Additional Job Details Preferences:
Experience
with MacOS, JAMF, VDI, scripting, BitLocker, Microsoft Azure, Intune, Microsoft Office 365, OMS, and Amazon Web Services. CompTIA A+ Certification. Jamf certification Microsoft certification Additional Information: Please note that all positions within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) have an in person component with expected time in our College Park, MD location per week.
