Legal Documentation Reviewer (Foreclosure) - Hybrid
Job description
Overview: This team plays a critical role in the foreclosure process by ensuring legal documents are accurate, compliant, and ready for court submission. As a Legal Documentation Reviewer, you will review and execute complex foreclosure affidavits and supporting legal documentation while helping mitigate risk to the Bank. This role combines mortgage servicing knowledge, legal document review, quality assurance, and collaboration with external attorney firms. You will be responsible for validating critical foreclosure information, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring all documents meet applicable federal and state requirements before execution. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop specialized expertise in foreclosure operations, legal documentation, and mortgage servicing within a highly regulated environment. Candidates with backgrounds in mortgage servicing, foreclosure operations, paralegal work, legal support, banking operations, or regulated financial services environments are encouraged to apply. Primary
Responsibilities
Review foreclosure affidavits, certifications, and supporting legal documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. Validate mortgage loan documentation, including chain of title, mortgage assignments, note endorsements, financial records, legal notices, and foreclosure-related correspondence. Ensure foreclosure actions are being pursued by the appropriate entity and that all documentation supports legal standing requirements. Analyze foreclosure, bankruptcy, and loss mitigation statuses to determine whether foreclosure documents may proceed to execution and court filing. Research and resolve discrepancies by communicating directly with external attorney firms and legal service providers. Evaluate explanations and supporting documentation provided by outside counsel and determine when concerns have been adequately addressed or escalated. Review required legal notices and correspondence to verify proper delivery and accurate representation within affidavits and certifications. Understand and apply complex legal concepts, including powers of attorney and state-specific foreclosure requirements. Maintain productivity and quality standards while managing a queue-based workload in a fast-paced environment. Partner closely with internal departments and external legal partners to ensure timely processing and resolution of foreclosure-related matters. Adhere to all compliance, operational risk, regulatory, and internal control requirements. Occasionally appear in court to attest to business records when required. What You'll Do Day-to-Day: In this role, you'll manage a queue of foreclosure-related documents and mortgage loans, conducting detailed reviews to ensure all information is accurate before documents are executed and returned to attorney firms for court submission. You'll analyze mortgage and legal documents, verify ownership and assignment history, review financial information, and ensure regulatory requirements have been satisfied. Much of the work is performed independently and requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the confidence to engage directly with outside counsel to resolve questions or discrepancies. Every review plays an important role in helping the Bank manage risk and maintain compliance throughout the foreclosure process. Ideal Candidate: We're looking for someone who enjoys analytical, detail-oriented work and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality results. The strongest candidates are highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities.
