Education
High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET) required. Lived
Experience
Personal experience as a consumer within the child welfare, probation, or mental health systems required.
Experience
One (1) year of full-time experience providing non-professional, consumer-directed services in a mental health, healthcare, or social services setting preferred. Certifications & Compliance: First Aid Certification: Valid certification from an accredited provider (e.g., American Red Cross). Driver’s License: Valid California Driver’s License with a driving record that meets company policy eligibility. Peer Support Specialist Certification: Must successfully complete certification within one year of employment. How you will make a difference (Job Overview): The position has primary responsibility for using their lived experience and knowledge of the system to provide outreach and engagement, support, advocacy, and direct services to program clients of all age ranges. Peer Support Counselors are people who have lived experience in the mental health, judicial, and/or social service systems in some capacity. They serve as role models, companions, educators and advocates to our clients. The Peer Support Counselors will support clients in moving toward recovery, creating a meaningful role in their life, which is separate from their illness Division & Program Overview: Facility & Setting: 16-bed residential facility offering a short-term, home-like environment. 24/7 intensive treatment is designed as an alternative to hospitalization or urgent care. Clinical Services: Comprehensive physical/psychological evaluations, mental health counseling, and case management. Skills & Transition: Life-skills and interpersonal training, paired with dedicated assistance for locating permanent housing.
