Sustaining Engineer
Job description
Product Optimization & Value Engineering Lead and support Value Engineering (VE) initiatives to improve product performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost competitiveness. Drive continuous product improvement projects throughout the product lifecycle. Identify opportunities to simplify designs, reduce variant complexity, standardize components, and improve operational efficiency. Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of existing designs and manufacturing processes. Cost Reduction & Supplier Collaboration Perform cost analysis and identify opportunities for material, component, and manufacturing cost reductions. Evaluate alternative components, technologies, and materials in collaboration with Supply Chain and Purchasing teams. Support supplier selection, qualification, and sourcing activities from a technical perspective. Assist Purchasing during supplier discussions, technical reviews, and supplier performance evaluations. Collaborate with suppliers to improve product quality, delivery performance, and cost competitiveness. Product Lifecycle Management Manage engineering changes and product updates to support business and customer requirements. Support product transfers, localization projects, and manufacturing transitions. Ensure product documentation, drawings, specifications, and bills of materials remain current and accurate. Analyze field performance and reliability data to identify improvement opportunities. Manufacturing & Operational Support Act as the primary engineering interface between Product Development, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain organizations. Support production teams in resolving technical issues affecting quality, productivity, and delivery performance. Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions. Ensure products are designed and maintained for manufacturability, serviceability, and scalability. Compliance & Technical Support Support CE certification activities and regulatory compliance requirements. Coordinate laboratory testing and product validation activities as needed. Participate in cross-functional problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide technical expertise for quality investigations, supplier issues, and customer-related concerns.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in Sustaining Engineering, Value Engineering, Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
with industrial equipment, instrumentation, automation, or machinery products preferred.
Experience
working within a multinational company (MNC) environment is advantageous. Proven experience supporting products throughout their lifecycle, including cost reduction and manufacturing optimization initiatives. Required Skills Strong engineering and technical problem-solving capabilities.
Experience
leading product optimization and cost reduction projects. Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions. Strong understanding of product lifecycle management and engineering change processes. Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation in English. Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multiple functions. Technical Competencies Proficiency with: SolidWorks & AutoCAD Understanding of: Manufacturing processes; Design for Manufacturing (DFM); Design for Assembly (DFA); Product cost analysis; Supplier development and qualification processes; Engineering change management. Preferred Mechanical Engineering or Automation background.
Experience
working closely with manufacturing operations and supply chain organizations. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience
with SAP C4C, SAP, or other ERP systems.
Experience
supporting CE certification and regulatory compliance activities. Familiarity with adhesive dispensing, fluid handling, automation equipment, or industrial machinery.
