What we want The Senior Research Scientist is responsible for overseeing and conducting complex independent scholarship in nursing and nursing education. This position provides scientific, strategic, and operational leadership for Project ConNECT, including oversight of research activities, collaborative partnerships, grant-related deliverables, dissemination products, and mentorship of project personnel and trainees. May collaborate with other scientists and/or faculty. What you need to know Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience. Responsibilities
Research: Oversees and conducts complex independent research and other sponsored activities related to Project ConNECT and professional nursing. Provides scientific and operational leadership for Project ConNECT, including coordination of research priorities, timelines, deliverables, and study-related activities. Leads or contributes to development of research protocols, grant proposals, progress reports, manuscripts, and dissemination products related to Project ConNECT. Oversees project implementation in collaboration with faculty investigators, project staff, students, clinical partners, community partners, and sponsor representatives. Ensures research and sponsored project activities are conducted in accordance with approved protocols, human subjects protections, data management expectations, sponsor requirements, and applicable institutional policies. Analyzes data and summarizes results Guides analysis, interpretation, and translation of findings for scholarly, clinical, community, and policy audiences. Writes and may contribute to scholarly papers, articles, and publications. Identifies opportunities for future funding, sustainability, and expansion of Project ConNECT’s purposes. Assists with grant acquisition. Mentoring/Supervision Provides mentorship and scientific guidance to project staff, students, trainees, and collaborators engaged in Project ConNECT-related work. Mentors and provides scientific guidance to students, trainees, project staff, and collaborators engaged in Project ConNECT-related work. Supports professional development, role clarity, and continuity of project operations across interdisciplinary team members May supervise assigned staff and/or students. Presentations: Represents Project ConNECT in meetings with academic, clinical, community, sponsor, and stakeholder audiences. Disseminates findings through peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, professional presentations, community-facing materials, and other knowledge translation products. Prepares and delivers presentations, reports, and dissemination materials for academic, clinical, community, sponsor, and stakeholder audiences. Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors. Serves as a subject matter expert in rural nursing and nursing education. Required
Education
and
Experience
PhD in nursing or a related field. Eight years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research. Required Licenses and Certifications Valid Registered Nursing license in the State of Texas
Preferred Qualifications
Experience
leading or co-leading federally funded research and other sponsored projects, including interdisciplinary team leadership, sponsor deliverables, grant development, scientific writing, and dissemination.
Experience
with community-engaged, clinical, nursing, public health, health services, or implementation research.
Experience
managing interdisciplinary research teams, external partnerships, research operations, and sponsor deliverables.
Experience
with grant development, scientific writing, manuscript preparation, and dissemination to academic and non-academic audiences. Familiarity with human subjects research, IRB processes, data integrity, and regulatory compliance in research settings. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent verbal and written skills. Presentation skills. Analytical skills. Attention to detail. Must be able to work independently as part of a multidisciplinary collaborative team.
