Student Assistant Specialist - Academic Support

The New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education. The Dean’s Office at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, the Adult Bachelor’s Program, and The New School for Social Research seeks a Student Assistant Specialist to manage academic content at our college websites. RESPONSIBILITIES Research and update course samplings Manage departmental faculty pages Audit posted edits Cross-check that curricular requirements for academic offerings are consistent in all channels Check in weekly with a supervisor MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Matriculated New School student Applicants must have a Federal Work-Study (FWA) award since this position is paid for with Federal Work-Study funds. Organized and able to manage projects on one’s own Patient and able to focus; Attentive to details Ability to communicate in a professional manner with faculty and staff Able to work 5 hours per week PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with a content management system is a plus but not necessary. The person in this position will be trained on our cms platform. WORK MODE Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Responsibilities: This Student Assistant Specialist manages academic content at our websites (Eugene Lang College, the Adult Bachelor’s Program, and The New School for Social Research). This work entails researching and updating course samplings, editing departmental faculty pages, and cross-checking curricular requirements for accuracy. If they complete their work in less than five hours in any given week and wish to work more to make up the difference, they will have the option to provide additional administrative support. The person in this position works independently for the most part although a supervisor will review much of their work before it is posted. They report to the Associate Director of Academic Communication. We look forward to receiving your application!
